Living in Avondale

Avondale combines residential streets, independent businesses and convenient transportation with a location immediately northwest of Logan Square.

The neighborhood has developed a growing restaurant and entertainment scene while retaining a more understated residential character than some nearby areas.

The Neighborhood

Avondale sits along the Milwaukee Avenue corridor northwest of Logan Square, with additional commercial activity along Belmont and Diversey.

The CTA Blue Line provides direct access toward downtown and O'Hare, while the Kennedy Expressway offers another convenient transportation option.

Lifestyle

Restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, music venues and independent businesses have increasingly become part of Avondale's identity.

At the same time, much of the neighborhood remains residential, creating a balance between places to go and quieter everyday surroundings.

Avondale Homes & Real Estate

Housing includes classic Chicago two- and three-flats, vintage condos, workers' cottages, single-family homes and newer condominium developments.

Buyers comparing Avondale with Logan Square may find different opportunities in terms of space, property type and location.

My Perspective as a Chicago Realtor

As someone who lives next door in Logan Square, I think Avondale deserves to be part of more Northwest Side home searches.

Buyers sometimes start with a very specific neighborhood in mind, but expanding the search just a few blocks north can uncover very different housing opportunities without dramatically changing the overall location.
